westenergie Hunsrück Marathon 2022
Hello to all athletes, sponsors and helpers,
unfortunately we have to cancel the 20th edition of the Westenergie Hunsrück Marathon on 27 and 28 August 2022.
We did not take the decision lightly. After the two years of Corona, financing is very difficult. The useless war in Ukraine also plays its part. New demands present us with great challenges. We don't know of any event in Hunsrück that is organised on a voluntary basis to the same extent. This is also where we have reached our limits.
We as the Hunsrück-Marathon e.V. always try to promote running in the Hunsrück. We have proven this impressively in two years of the pandemic. On 01.03.2020, we held the Rhineland-Palatinate and Rhineland Cross Country Running Championships after only a short preparation phase. Without our great commitment, there would have been no championships.
The Westenergie Hunsrück Marathon was run virtually. In 2020, we waived a large part of the entry fees and transferred € 3,112 to the "Vor-Tour der Hoffnung". In 2021, the Westenergie Hunsrück Marathon was also run virtually. In conjunction with our sponsors, we doubled the entry fees and were thus able to transfer € 6,000 to the Ahr.
We also held the Rhineland-Palatinate and Rhineland Cross Country Championships on 04.12.2021 under Corona conditions.
We are not afraid of running an event, but in the end there must be black figures. This would not have been possible this year.
